Oh...hi! So, updating everyday is not going to be sustainable with my lack of studying habits that leave me doing nothing until the clock strikes close to midnight at which point I cram all my studying in so that I can get some sleep before my 8:10AM class.
And I'm sure you are all busy with your lives as well. So, you only need a weekly or a bi-weekly update of all the bestest pictures in the world! Let's go through this rapidly, so that I may get some rest for my Friday class!
Monday was a free day!
Monday Lunch
 |
| 便當 - is Chinese for lunch box! |
This chicken thing was had. It was delicious. I also really enjoyed the vegetable thing in the upper right corner. I believe it is known as chayote (or maybe just in English/Spanish?). It is a tasty almost- cucumber.
 |
| A buffet selection |
 |
| Mmmmm, super red - raw and wriggling! |
Dinner was had at The Leader Hotel near school. I was super excited for this dinner, but let me be honest, I ate more dessert than dinner. And I'm sorry I didn't take pictures of that! I just got really involved with my desserts. Cheezcake and coffee yay!
Tuesday
 |
| Breakfast - Japanese Onigiri, $18NT |
Oh, thank heaven, Seven Eleven...? I'm still used to getting up early (and still terrified I might miss my alarm). 7-11 has a million onigiri choices. So, instead of a bun, I tried this onigiri which I didn't even realize was chicken until the second time I had it, Wednesday. Whatever mystery might it may be, it was tasty, so I had a second go. To obtain this flavor, I utilized my demand strategy. If fewer remain on the shelf despite the spacious-ness, then perhaps it is a very good/popular flavor.
 |
| Beef noodle soup, ~$85NT? |
This comes from a shop very close to my classes. I would say this one is inferior to the one I had near my dorm. It lacks the (fatty) richness of the last one. Also, I think the beef here was not as tender. I also did not like these noodles too much. They have more chew (Q!), whereas I prefer fairly soft noodles.
 |
| Starbucks |
What's this all about? Well, I had a latte at Starbucks. I took this picture to see what differences they have with US Starbucks. Verdict: more cake! Anywhos, I thought I enjoyed the latte until I realized that, actually, it tasted a little burnt. Guess that's just the Starbucks signature style! Note to self: do not go to Starbucks for coffee. Frappuccinos- maybe.
 |
| School Dining Hall |
I found myself at the chaotic cafeteria. During the dinner rush, it is a little more mellow, but there are still many people. Since I had a dance-related activity in the same building, eating here was a matter of convenience. It is quite a good buffett, but I do tend to have this problem of piling everything I can onto my tray. A glance to the tray next to me belonging to a boy made me feel like a glutton. This + a bowl of rice = $75NT. As with most buffets I have been to lately, the price is calculated by weight. So don't be a fatty unless you can handle it. ;)
Wednesday
 |
| Eggplant a;dfja;woiergh;fgkj pita - student special includes fries and drink, $160NT |
I went to Sababa Pita near school during my lunch break with a bunch of classmates. My brother....I guess he doesn't hate this place exactly, but he doesn't like this - or doesn't like that students always want to go here. It's pricey for Taiwan food. But my eggplant blahblahblah pita was tasty, though possibly a little heavy especially with those extra potato wedges in the sandwich! Sababa is worth a try, especially if you are craving non-Asian. Still, I wouldn't come here everyday. It's kind of slow and kind of expensive. And there are other places to try!
 |
| Mushroom rice burger from Mos Burger, $75NT |
This was my first time at Mos Burger. I thought the rice patty sounded interesting. Didn't like it. Didn't even like my burger. :(
Thursday
 |
| 飯糰 |
I'm sure I've already expressed my love for FanTuan as you have now seen at 3 times. This one comes from the store near the purple rice fantuan ladies. I don't know where those ladies are this week! I have not seen anyone working this week! It's okay though because I had this fantuan ($30NT) and a cup of milk tea ($15NT) during my break between classes. It was a beautiful break. *tear* Unfortunately, I should just stay near my classes and study because walking wastes some of my study time! The pickled mustard is really nice and crunchy here!
 |
| 地瓜葉 ($30NT) and this bowl of chicken and pickled stuff ($25NT) |
Yum! This was a great, fast lunch. It was at the same place where I had my previous beef noodle soup. Although the...ground melon...leaves...dish was not especially salty, it paired very nicely with the chicken/veggie combo.
 |
| Chicken curry from 7-11, $58NT |
 |
| Assembling the curry |
For dinner, I was in a bit of a rush because I wasted a lot of time watching Scrubs and generally spacing out. I was surprised. Some parts may have been slightly overheated, but overall, I found this curry to be very tasty (though a little salty which is normal). I wish there had been more chicken and veggies! Anyway, I am predicting more 7-11 in my future meals. ^_^
TIME FOR BED. Do people even read this words? I bet they don't make sense if you're not familiar with NTU. Well, I'm here for the pictures, too. And the memories of food.... So, no worries!
I think you should learn the word for "chicken" so you don't have any more mystery onigiri. ;) It's the last character on the wrapper.
ReplyDelete地瓜 is yam/sweet potato so 地瓜葉 is yam leaves.
I was in a rush the first time, so I didn't read the label! Haha. The second time, I was like, I had this last time, oh I can't believe it's not tuna!
ReplyDeleteI prefer ground melon. heheheheheeh.
